Hola! This is my first newsletter of 2024. ICYMI, I pressed pause indefinitely on my weekly advice column (read more about that decision here). I don’t know what’s next for this newsletter and I kinda love that. So much of my recent life revolved around planning. This meant living every day for the future which makes it nearly impossible to be present. It’s nice to just… drink coffee topped with whipped cream and edible glitter while looking out my window.
Perhaps I’m wintering (h/t to
).I’m going through some shit in my personal life (read about my year-long Menty B here. I’ve spent years promoting myself as The Sober Sexpert in order to get a book deal and then promote said book. Dry Humping is three months old. Now I’m trying to figure out who the hell else I am.
When do I clock out?
Who am I when I clock out?
What does clocking out even look like?
What else do I want to write about?
Why did it take 38 years to discover the joys of whipped cream and edible glitter on my coffee?
A Few Links
This recent episode of Recovery Rocks where we interview Jill from the Frugal Friends podcast about sobriety and money. My biggest takeaway: Taking a hard look in the mirror and being honest with yourself is the first step to making lifestyle changes, especially something as layered and taboo as money. This means that folks in recovery are already a few steps ahead when working on their financial goals.
I just finished Sunshine Nails by Mai Nguyen. This novel is about the family dynamics of being raised by immigrant parents who own a small business that’s impacted by gentrification. Highly recommend!
Hubby and I recently rewatched The Watchmen. I forgot how much of a freaking masterpiece this show is. The acting. The writing. The cinematography. The scene transitions. If you could take “nostalgia” pills that let you relive a family member’s memories, would you?
Hubby and I launched a vinegar-based botanical drink! The first batch sold out in a few days, and we’re already seeing some reorders come through with the new batch. Grab yours here. Check out recipes here.

How do you take your coffee?
Happy Humping,
Tawny
I take my coffee black, with a cat on my lap.
I relate to this. My book is three years old and I'm kinda still in that same "not knowing" phase. Good luck and congratulations!
